Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger may finally have a chance of putting his transfer market woes behind him, with the club having been encouraged in their pursuit of AS Roma defender Kostas Manolas after the Serie A giants failed to qualify for the group stage of this season’s Champions League.
The Romans lost the second leg of their qualifier against Porto with a scoreline of 3-0 after having played out a 1-1 draw in their last encounter. And that, in turn, has been good news for the Gunners, who now have the opportunity of luring Manolas to the Emirates Stadium by offering him a chance to play in Europe’s top tier competition.
Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has been shipped out as expected for a second consecutive loan spell at Serie A side AS Roma.
Szczesny, who made 34 appearances in the league for Roma last season, was also first choice in the Champions League last year, and added another 8 games under his belt in that competition to ensure that he continued his development away from Arsenal. Continue reading
Arsenal’s aspirations of signing Greek defender Kostas Manolas from AS Roma appear to be getting increasingly complicated with Manchester United and Chelsea also throwing their hat in the ring for the 25 year old centre back.
Manolas is a powerful defender who has been capped 23 times by the Greek national team and has notched up 86 appearances during his 2 seasons in Rome, becoming a first team regular for AS Roma, where he played in front of Wojciech Szczesny last season. Continue reading
Polish sensation Wojciech Szczesny showed Arsenal manager what he can expect from him, once he’s back at the club, by putting in a fine performance during his Serie A debut for AS Roma at Hellas Verona today.
The 25 year old, who is currently on loan at Roma, did concede a goal just after the hour mark when Bosko Jankovic scored from a Emil Hallfredsson cross. However, the Pole had earlier done really well to pull a fabulous double save off Hallfredsson and Juanito Gomez, failing which his side would have certainly started their league campaign with a defeat.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger may have offloaded Wojciech Szczesny off to AS Roma on loan, following the arrival of Petr Cech to the club; however, the player is not ready to give up on his attempts to carve out a place for himself in the club’s first team squad once again.
The Polish ace was quoted telling the London Evening Standard: “I want to come back to Arsenal and Wenger wants me back. I’m going to back as better, stronger and more experienced goalkeeper.”
Arsenal have been encouraged in their pursuit of AS Roma defender Alessio Romagnoli, with reports in The Metro revealing that the player has rejected the chance to move to suitors AC Milan this summer.
It is believed that Milan had made a £20m transfer offer to sign the player; however, they failed to agree personal terms with him, which scuppered the move.
Arsenal have finally parted ways with goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, with the Polish star joining Serie A giants AS Roma on loan for the 2015-16 season.
Speaking to reporters regarding the player’s move, the Gunners’ manager Arsene Wenger said: “I believe he will have a future at Arsenal. I personally rate him highly. I put him in the first team at the age of 20 and he already has huge experience.”
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted that goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny is set to move to Serie A side AS Roma on loan for the next season.
The Frenchman was quoted telling reporters during the pre-match press conference ahead of his club’s Emirates Cup game against Olympique Lyon: “He could go on loan to Roma. We are pretty much done it is down to paper work but as long as that is not over the line anything can happen.”
