Arsenal Transfer Rumour Wrap: 2nd Jan 2016

It promises to be a busy transfer window for Arsenal fans if the rumour mill is to be believed this weekend with the Gunners tipped to make three additions to their squad.

  1. Mohamed Elneny’s much anticipated move from FC Basel to Arsenal appears to be stuck due to work permit issues. The Egyptian passed his medical at Arsenal yesterday, and we now await for the paperwork to come through.
  2. 24 year old Italian forward Lorenzo Insigne continues to be on Arsene Wenger’s wishlist, if the player’s agent is to be believed. Insigne’s agent is reported to have told Naples-based Radio Kiss Kiss, “PSG and Arsenal are clubs at the top of the world and their interest is certainly gratifying, but right now Lorenzo is only thinking about Napoli.” That of course is due to the fact that Napoli are in with a shot of winning the Serie A title this season, something very high on the local lads’ wish list, making a move to Arsenal this winter unlikely.
  3. Also rumoured to be back on Arsenal’s wishlist this winter is 20 year old PSG midfielder Adrien Rabiot after the youngster went on another one of his mini tantrums, reportedly about the likelihood of losing his starting berth to the returning Marco Verratti. Rabiot is available both on loan or for 20 million euros should Wenger be ready to splash the cash on the youngster.

Meanwhile, despite training with the first team yesterday, Mathieu Debuchy continues to be linked with an exit from Arsenal this month. The 30 year old right back has been the subject of a bid from AS Roma, but is reportedly more keen on a return to France rather than heading out to Italy.
