FC Porto announced yesterday the extension of defensive midfielder Danilo Pereira’s contract until 2022, with a 60 million euro buy out clause.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is reportedly keeping tabs on Porto ace Danilo with the intent of signing him in the near future, according to reports in A Bola.
It is reported that the Frenchman had the player watched by his scouts during his team’s match against Rio Ave over the weekend and that the north Londoners are now ready to table a bid for him.
Arsenal may have been defeated in their pursuit of Leicester City ace Riyad Mahrez after the player put pen to paper on a new long term deal at his club; however, as per reports in The Sunday Mirror now, the Gunners’ boss Arsene Wenger is eyeing a potential move for Porto playmaker Yacine Brahimi now.
It is understood that Brahimi, who, coincidentally, is also Mahrez’s compatriot, is himself desperate to move away from his current side, and may be open to the prospect of moving to the Emirates Stadium in the days to come.
Arsenal have been linked with former FC Porto striker Jackson Martinez for the better part of 2 years now, but let slide the opportunity to bid for the 29 year old Colombian striker when he left the Portuguese giants this summer.
Martinez made the leap to Spain where he joined Atletico Madrid, but has failed to replicate his success for the former La Liga winners, netting just 3 goals in 12 games, a far from ideal return for the South American superstar, who has been rather prolific in past seasons. Continue reading
Monaco are understood to have given their highly rated midfielder Joao Moutinho with the go-ahead to move away from the club this summer as part of a measure to reduce the pressure on their wage budget. And that, in turn, will serve as a massive boost to the hopes of Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, who has been known to be interested in signing the player for quite some time now.
The 28 year old moved to Monaco two summers ago from Portuguese side Porto, following which he has impressed one and all with his performances for his side. Last season, the player made 52 appearances for the club, scoring 5 goals and providing 8 assists.
Arsenal fans’ dream of seeing Jackson Martinez in a Gunners shirt may never be fulfilled now…not in the near future, at least! According to a startling revelation made by the player’s agent Luiz Henrique Pompeo, the Colombian has agreed a deal to move to Atletico Madrid this summer.
Pompeo was quoted telling Spanish publication AS: “It [the deal to move to Atletico] was finalised today… It [Atletico] is a very big club, which has done important things in the league and in Europe. Jackson is going there to also achieve great things and to bring the best out of himself to become even better. That’s his dream and he’s very excited. He’s really happy.”
Porto ace Jackson Martinez has dropped massive hints that he could be contemplating a move to suitors Arsenal this summer.
The Colombian star was quoted in The Metro, saying: “Arsenal are a great team, playing in one of the best leagues in the world. I’m still waiting to see what the future holds. It’s not known yet but it will be known soon.”
Arsenal great Thierry Henry has said that Porto forward Jackson Martinez would be a great signing for his former club this summer.
The Frenchman was quoted in The Metro, saying: “He can be a good fit. You already have the likes of Giroud who looks a bit like him as as striker in the way they play, with their back to the goal. He can be a good addition. He had a good season in the Champions League but you have guys already.”
