Veteran German forward and former Arsenal striker Lukas Podolski on Monday announced his retirement from international football, ending a 13-year career, to focus on his club football and family.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is finally looking set to bid adieu to club veteran Matheiu Flamini, with reports in The Daily Mail revealing that Galatasaray have become interested in signing the 31 year old today.
Flamini, who joined the Gunners for the second time, in the summer of 2013, has fallen down the pecking order at the Emirates Stadium, with Wenger placing immense faith in Francis Coquelin in recent times. And as a result of that, it is believed that the player may be allowed to move now, with Wenger himself known to be open to that prospect.
Arsenal youngster Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is understood to have become a key target for Galatasaray now, with reports in The Daily Mirror revealing that the Turkish side have already got in touch with the north Londoners over the prospect of signing the player in the hours to come.
The 22 year old is widely regarded to be one of the hottest young prospects in the Gunners’ first team, with him having been impressive for the side in his recent performances for them.
Arsenal are understood to have reached an agreement with Turkish giants Galatasaray over a transfer of their veteran midfielder Mathieu Flamini, according to reports in the Turkish media.
It is understood that the deal for the player will be concluded in the next few hours, with him set to re-link with former clubmate Lukas Podolski at the club.
Arsenal are understood to have approached Serie A giants Juventus, to ask them about the availability of their highly rated young attacker Kingsley Coman, according to reports in Calciomercato.
Furthermore, it is reported that the Bianconeri have snubbed the approach from the north London side, making it clear that the player is not for sale anytime in the near future.
Merely days after Lukas Podolski’s transfer from Arsenal to Galatasaray, another Turkish side is again being linked with a move for a Gunners forward. According to reports in The Metro, Besiktas have now agreed a deal with the north London side over the prospect of signing their flop forward Joel Campbell.
It is reported that Arsene Wenger’s side have accepted a £3.5m transfer bid for the player, with him having also agreed to personal terms with the Turks.
Arsenal are reported to be preparing a £17.8m bid to sign their long term target, Real Madrid ace Karim Benzema, this summer, according to reports in The Metro. What’s more – it is even believed that Los Blancos are open to the prospect of selling the Frenchman for that bargain fee in this transfer window.
It is understood that Real’s new manager Rafael Benitez is uninterested in keeping hold of the player this summer, with him likely to resort to playing Cristiano Ronaldo and/or Gareth Bale as part of his formation, in which he will play one or two forwards. And the Frenchman himself is believed to be keen on a switch in order to avoid spending time on the sidelines next season.
