Nostalgic Walcott speaks of how Wenger motivated him

Arsenal forward Theo Walcott has revealed how manager Arsene Wenger motivated him to push beyond his limits and prove his worth to the side way back when he was a new face at the club.

The Englishman was quoted telling Arsenal Player: “What motivates me is the manager grabbing me when I was 16, unknown, and just giving me that opportunity, that chance to express myself, to show what I can do. He had that belief in me. I’ve got more of an ambition and a goal now to do it for the family, especially the little one. That’s just something that motivates me more now, something that drives you more.”

Photo: Pires puts India’s Under 19s to the sword

Former Arsenal legend Robert Pires made his second outing in an FC Goa shirt today taking on India’s Under 19 team as the ex-Gunner continues his attempts to regain form and fitness ahead of the launch of the Indian Soccer League later this month.

Wenger compares young Thomas Eisfeld to Arsenal legend…

The Gunners are going through a tough time as far as the general health of the team is concerned, with a lot of their star players picking up injuries and utterly depleting the squad. But this has given an opportunity for the lesser known and younger plays to lift their hands up and be counted. Ask Aaron Ramsey, for instance, who, at the moment, doesn’t look like he can put a foot wrong.

Another youngster who has used this opportunity to his advantage is young German midfielder, Thomas Eisfield. He has impressed his French manager so much so that Wenger has himself compared the U-21 youth to Arsenal legend Robert Pires. He said to Arsenal’s official website, “He is a Pires type.
