Napoli reject €60 million offer for Higuain

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has confirmed that he has rejected an offer of 60 million euros ($66 million) to sell Argentine striker and Arsenal transfer target Gonzalo Higuain to Atletico Madrid, in exchange for two or three other players from the Rojiblancos.

In a press conference on Wednesday, Laurentiis dismissed recent speculation about the future of the Argentine striker, and stressed the only way for him to leave is to meet his exit clause, which is worth 97 million euros ($106 million). Continue reading

CONFIRMED: Arsenal target rejects new contract offer at club

Arsenal have been boosted in their pursuit of Napoli star Gonzalo Higuain, with the player now understood to have rejected the chance to sign a new deal at the Stadio San Paolo.

The player’s agent and brother, Nicolas Higuain, was quoted in The Metro, saying: “He [President Aurelio De Laurentiis] offered a one-year contract extension, however, in my opinion – and in our opinion – we’ll continue with the original contract, expiring in 2018.”
