Arsenal may have been defeated in their pursuit of Leicester City ace Riyad Mahrez after the player put pen to paper on a new long term deal at his club; however, as per reports in The Sunday Mirror now, the Gunners’ boss Arsene Wenger is eyeing a potential move for Porto playmaker Yacine Brahimi now.
It is understood that Brahimi, who, coincidentally, is also Mahrez’s compatriot, is himself desperate to move away from his current side, and may be open to the prospect of moving to the Emirates Stadium in the days to come.
Arsenal boosted in race for Mustafi
Arsenal have been encouraged in their pursuit of Valencia defender Shkodran Mustafi, with reports in the press revealing that the player has been left out of his side’s squad for their pre-season friendly match with Nigeria All-Stars. However, there is still no concrete confirmation of any new bids by the club for the highly rated German ace.
Wenger ready to pay only £35m for Mahrez
Arsenal may have succeeded in signing only one marquee player in this year’s transfer market; however, manager Arsene Wenger seems to be still unwilling to loosen the strings of his purse. According to a revelation made by L’Equipe journalist Gilles Favard, the north London giants have tabled a second bid of £35m for Leicester City superstar Riyad Mahrez – one that may surely be turned down by the Foxes in the days to come. The Gunners have already seen a £30m offer being rejected for the same player.
Arsenal fans, who must have been hoping to see Leicester City star RIyad Mahrez plying his trade for their side, are in for a big disappointment. As per reports in the press, the reigning English champions’ co-owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha has made it clear that the player isn’t going away from King Power Stadium anytime soon.
The boss reportedly posted a picture of himself with the highly rated Algerian, who was adjudged last season’s PFA Player of the Year, on Instagram whilst revealing his intention to hold on to him this summer.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger held a press conference at the Stubhub Center on Saturday as the Gunners prepared for their pre-season clash with Chivas.
Predictably Wenger was quizzed about the Gunners’ transfer targets, specifically asked about Arsenal’s rumoured interest in Riyad Mahrez and Alexandre Laccazette. The Gunners boss responded by saying, “The best way to conclude transfers is not to talk about them, which is very difficult in the press conference! We are on the market but I don’t want to talk specifically about any player because that makes it more difficult for me – and it’s difficult enough.” Continue reading
Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy says it was an “easy” decision to reject Arsenal and hopes teammate Riyad Mahrez will follow him by staying at the club. Arsenal attempted to lure the 29-year-old to the Emirates Stadium in June after triggering a release clause in his contract with a 20 million pound bid.
However, Vardy, who was away on international duty with England at Euro 2016 at the time, turned down the chance to join the Gunners and instead committed his future to the EPL champions by signing a new four-year deal. Continue reading
Arsenal may have been unsuccessful in their quest to sign Jamie Vardy this summer from Premier League champions Leicester City, but they do appear to be having better luck with Algerian winger Riyad Mahrez with Algerian publication Le Buteur reporting this afternoon that the Gunners should wrap up the African’s capture before the weekend is out.
Arsenal are believed to have had a £37.1 million offer accepted by Leicester for the Premier League’s player of last season, and if rumours are to be believed Mahrez has also agreed personal terms with the Gunners ahead of his move to North London. Continue reading
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger seems to be in no mood to conclude his raid on Premier League champions Leicester City, if reports by Tancredi Palmeri are to be believed. According to a revelation made by the transfer expert, the Gunners have made the Foxes a £25m offer in order to sign their star attacker Riyad Mahrez.
Palmeri also went on to reveal that the Gunners held several meetings with the player’s representatives before tabling the bid, and that he himself is open to the prospect of moving to the Emirates Stadium this summer.
Arsenal weighing up deadline day move for Cavani
Arsenal are understood to be plotting a deadline day swoop for Paris Saint-Germain forward Edinson Cavani, according to reports in Spanish outlet Fichajes. The Uruguayan, who is known to be a target for Manchester United too, is himself open to the prospect of a move to the Emirates Stadium in the times to come, with the Parisiens known to be valuing him in the region of around £44m in the current transfer window.
