Rumours of Alexis Sanchez’s exit from Arsenal just don’t seem to be going away with French media house Maxifoot and Spanish daily Don Balon both talking up moves for the Chilean superstar this summer.
Maxifoot throws its weight behind one of the rumours that has been doing the rounds in recent weeks that Paris St. Germain are encouraging Sanchez not to pen a new deal with Arsenal, and will plot a £60m move for him in the summer with the Gunners left with no option but to sell. Continue reading
FA Cup winners Arsenal were reportedly close to securing a deal for highly rated German midfielder Sami Khedira this summer after agreeing a deal worth £23m with Real Madrid. But, alas the Gunners have hit a massive roadblock in their hopes of completing a transfer as the North London club are unable to reach common ground with the World Cup winning midfielder on personal terms. Arsenal are reportedly closing in on signing Atletico Madrid’s 20-year old right-back Javier Manquillo as a backup for their imminent new signing Mathieu Debuchy. The Gunners are negotiating a loan deal with a view to a permanent transfer next summer, and are expected to sign the youngster soon.
There is a worry that another budding right-back Carl Jenkinson could be sacrificed for a more attack minded full-back like Manquillo. Although Jenkinson has progressed steadily as a defender over the last couple of seasons, his contribution to Arsenal’s attacks on the flanks is rather limited, making him a doubtful starter in the side. The long running transfer story of Arsenal and German midfielder Sami Khedira is close to completion apparently, as reports emerged that Real Madrid have decided to sell the player for £24m. But Arsenal’s pursuit of the tenacious midfielder has hit another roadblock now, with the player demanding the same wage packet he receives at the Santiago Bernabeu, something the London based club are reluctant to provide.
Earlier this week numerous reports from Spain and England stated that Khedira has been made available to the Gunners on a cut price fee of £24m and the North London club were front runners for the German’s signature. In a surprising turn of events, the Daily Mail now reports that the transfer might be on the rocks given the player’s wage demands. Khedira wants to earn £8m a year which would come down to more than £150,000 a week, a figure which even £42m man Mesut Ozil doesn’t earn. Continue reading
Arsenal’s midfield woes could soon be a thing of the past, or at least that is what Arsene Wenger would be hoping as he contemplates making a £23 million bid for German ace Sami Khedira, according to reports in the Mirror.
Khedira has been with Real Madrid since 2010, but has had to fend off competition from the likes of Xabi Alonso and Asier Illarramendi in recent times. He wasn’t at his best in last season’s Champions League final against Atletico Madrid and has found it difficult to hold on to a starting place in his national side’s cause in the ongoing FIFA World Cup. It would appear that Arsenal’s exertions in the transfer market are set to be foiled yet again, this time by reigning European champions Real Madrid. According to reports in the Daily Star, the Spanish giants will in all likelihood come in the way of Arsene Wenger and Bosnian keeper Asmir Begovic.
Begovic, who only just returned from the World Cup after an early group stage exit, has been at Stoke City since 2010. He joined the Potters from Portsmouth for a little over £3 million. The 27 year old even scored a goal for his club side in last season’s Premier league campaign. Continue reading
Arsenal will need to take Juventus head on, if they wish to make an impact in the transfer market this time round. Reports in the Express indicate that the two clubs are preparing last minute bids to force a sell for prodigious Spanish striker Alvaro Morata.
The Real Madrid forward has already been the subject of a failed bid from Turin, but the Italian giants are prepared to up the stake by making a £16 million bid as well as including a £20 million buy-back clause in the transfer offer. Arsenal are yet to express their interest in monetary terms, but they would have to move fast if there is to be any hope of landing the 21 year old. Continue reading
Angel Di Maria was a game turner for a Real Madrid team which performed exceedingly well last season, winning both the Champions League and the Copa Del Rey. The Argentine who was credited with a whopping 26 assists has made the headlines a lot recently due to rumours of the player wanting a move away from Madrid. It comes as no surprise that top teams like Arsenal and Manchester United are heavily interested in the exciting winger given his performances of last season along with the discontentment with life at Real.
