Arsenal Summer Transfer Window Review: Two missed, five to go

We’re almost at the halfway stage of the summer transfer window, and usually this would be a terrific time to take stock of how we’ve fared so far this summer. Except that on the face of it, it doesn’t look like we’ve done much at all.

Let me begin by stating the obvious. I love Arsenal and I adore Arsene Wenger almost as much as I love the Gunners… almost. I have no intent of getting on the Wenger bashing bandwagon, because lets face it, the man’s put us on the world map, and sure we might have taken a beating over the last decade, but the rewards of being at the Emirates are likely to pay off well past Wenger’s lifetime, and quite possibly some of our readers’ as well. So while emotions do play a crucial role on how we see things, lets also try to look at things from a rational perspective. Continue reading

Arsenal ready to dig deep in their pockets to pay Rooney

Arsenal are ready to smash apart their wage structure to acquiesce to Wayne Rooney’s high demands, paving a way for the striker to depart Manchester and come to the North London club.

Arsenal are infamous for their strict wage structure where the highest earning player is Theo Walcott at just over 90,000 pounds a week. The management however has assured Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger that the club will support the English forward’s astronomical wages should Rooney agree to a move to Emirates. The club has promised support to the Frenchman of making more than 150,000 pounds available per week if they are to be used on the right player. Rooney at present earns 250,000 pounds a week, and will hopefully not demand a significant wage hike to agree to a transfer.
