Arsenal could get another home draw in the FA Cup

Arsenal will continue to enjoy the benefits of home comforts should we be able to make our way past Hull City in our FA Cup Replay at the KC Stadium, with the winners of the Arsenal – Hull City tie drawing Watford in the sixth round of the competition.

Arsenal, the two time defending champions of the competition, failed to make the most of home advantage when we squared off against Hull City yesterday afternoon with the Tigers holding the Gunners to a 0-0 draw despite Arsenal having 24 shots on goal including 11 on target. Continue reading

Jakupovic, Dean deny Arsenal in FA Cup 5th Round

Two time defender FA Cup Champions Arsenal ran into a brick wall that was the last line of Hull City’s defence as second choice goalkeeper Eldin Jakupovic produced some fantastic saves to deny the Gunners as immediate place in the sixth round, forcing their tie back to the KC Stadium thanks to a 0-0 draw.

Arsenal fans may well point the finger at Referee Mike Dean, who could have awarded Gunners three penalties, but chose not too, with at least two of them looking very good shouts. Hull on their part came close to stealing a late win with their only shot on target, and an already packed fixture list for both clubs just got heavier after what was a disappointing stalemate. Arsene Wenger: “We were not incisive or accurate enough”

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger wasn’t too displeased with having to battle Hull City a second time this month after his side fired blanks not for the first time this month in their FA Cup fifth round clash at the Emirates.

Speaking after the game, Wenger said, “Hull defended very well. We were not incisive or accurate enough in our passing in the final third. As long as they did not concede, they maintained with how they played. We had 20 shots, 70% possession but no goals.” Continue reading

Jakupovic thrilled with performance on the big stage

Hull City goalkeeper Eldin Jakupovic produced a man of the match performance to keep Arsenal at bay as the Gunners were denied admission into the sixth round of the FA Cup by a second string Tigers side that parked the bus in front of goal and defended in numbers, forcing Arsenal to break them down.

Jakupovic produced some excellent saves over the course of the game, none better than stopping Joel Campbell from scoring with a freekick, and the Swiss keeper was delighted with his effort, saying, “It was a great free-kick but I made a save to my left. I touched it with my fingers onto the post and was happy the ball didn’t go in.” Continue reading

Arsenal get another easy draw in the FA Cup

Arsenal’s quest for a third consecutive FA Cup title sees the Gunners welcome the side we beat to win the title in 2014, Hull City to the Emirates Stadium, with the luck of the draw continuing to favour us this season.

The 5th round match will take place on the weekend of the 20th of Feb, after the visit of Premier League leaders Leicester City to the Emirates, and before the Gunners welcome Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League. Continue reading
