Arsenal will square off against Manchester City in the second FA Cup semi-final to be played at Wembley in April. Chelsea, who beat Manchester United on Monday night, will take on Tottenham Hotspur in the first semi-final.
Arsenal, who beat non-League side Lincoln City in their quarter-final encounter at the Emirates on Saturday, were guaranteed tough opponents in the semis after four heavyweights of the Premier League were left in the draw for the first time in many a year. Continue reading →
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger hit out at the match officials for the second time in a week after the Gunners went down 2-1 to Manchester City with dodgy officiating at fault for both goals.
After Arsenal had dominated the first half and scored the only goal in it to take a 1-0 lead into half-time, the Gunners were punished in the second period with both of Manchester City’s goals scored when an offside could be given against the home side. Continue reading →
Arsenal are determined to quell speculation linking star right back Hector Bellerin to Barcelona and Manchester City by preparing a new long term contract for the 21 year old Spaniard.
Bellerin has repeatedly spoken of his desire to continue to play for Arsenal and his lack of interest in returning to Barcelona, but that hasn’t quite stopped the press from continuing to link him with a move away from the Gunners in the future. Continue reading →
Arsenal wrapped up their pre-season with what should have been a morale boosting 3-2 win against Manchester City in Gothenburg, however, the match ended in tears for Brazilian defender Gabriel Paulista, who had to be stretchered off with what looked like an ankle ligament injury that no doubt will rule him out of action for a few months, thereby further limiting Arsenal’s options at centre back heading into the new season.
The match itself was an exciting affair, with Arsenal dominating the first half, but unlucky not to get on the scoresheet. Gabriel and Aaron Ramsey both should have done better with headed chances that came their way, while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain fired wide with a delicate chip. Continue reading →
A clinical first half display from Arsenal wherein they scored twice from the two chances they created helped the Gunners open up a crucial four point cushion over title rivals Manchester City with what was in the end a rather nervy 2-1 win over the Citizens.
Mesut Ozil was the architect for Arsenal once again as his simple pass was curled home beautifully by Theo Walcott to give Arsenal the lead, before the German playmaker picked out Olivier Giroud, who lashed home between Joe Hart’s legs in injury time at the end of the first half to make it 2-0 for the Gunners. Arsenal sat back in the second half and played largely on the counter attack, but Joel Campbell missed two gilt edged chances before Hart saved a Ramsey shot inadvertently with his face to deny Arsenal a goal that would have killed the game as a contest. Arsenal are on the verge of missing out on the chance to sign Manchester City ace James Milner. According to reports in The Daily Mirror, the Englishman is understood to be wishful for signing for Liverpool after his current contract at the Etihad Stadium ends at the end of this season.
29 year old Milner has been an important part of manager Manuel Pellegrini’s squad this season, scoring 7 goals and providing 8 assists in 43 appearances for the club. However, the fact that he has been played out of his natural position on a number of occasions has made him disillusioned with his stay at the club. As a result, he is understood to be desperate to move to a club where he would be allowed to play where he wishes to.

The Frenchman was quoted telling reporters ahead of his side’s Premier League fixture against Liverpool: “What is mathematically possible you have to try to achieve but that’s not all down to us. We can only master our own performances.”
