Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger revealed yesterday that club captain Per Mertesacker, who suffered an injury in pre-season and is yet to play for the club this campaign will be out of action for another 3-4 weeks.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger confirmed yesterday that the Gunners will exercise the options that already exist in the contract of Santi Cazorla and Per Mertesacker to extend their stay at the Emirates.

Arsenal’s Spanish midfield maestro Santi Cazorla has been ruled out of action for the next three months at the very least with the club having decided that the 31 year old has not progressed sufficiently from the knock he picked up on his Achilles while playing against Ludogorets in the Champions League and will as a result require surgery.
