Arsenal playmaker Santi Cazorla has revealed that he would be delighted to play alongside Real Madrid ace Karim Benzema at the Emirates Stadium in the times to come.
However, the Spanish sensation was also quoted adding during his interview with Spanish broadcaster Cope Radio: “Everyone would like to have him on their team, but the coach (Arsene Wenger) already has a squad and probably will not find another forward.”
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has refused to reveal anything substantial regarding reports in the press that have linked the Gunners with Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema this summer.
The boss was quoted telling reporters in Singapore during his side’s pre-season tour: “I don’t know where that story comes from, but that is not happening at the moment. I am happy with the squad we have. If I find an exceptional player to strengthen, I will do it.”
Arsenal are understood to be on the verge of landing their long term offensive target Karim Benzema, with reports in The Metro revealing that Real Madrid are also ‘working on selling’ him this summer.
It is believed that Los Blancos are themselves trying to push him out of the Santiago Bernabeu, with manager Rafael Benitez interested in playing Cristiano Ronaldo and/or Gareth Bale up front.
Arsenal have been boosted in their attempts to sign Napoli winger Jose Callejon, with reports in Sport Mediaset revealing that the player is himself wishful of a move to the Emirates Stadium this summer.
It is further reported that the north London giants are now set to commence transfer negotiations with the £17.9m-rated player, with manager Arsene Wenger known to be an ardent admirer of the Spaniard.
Arsenal are reported to be preparing a £17.8m bid to sign their long term target, Real Madrid ace Karim Benzema, this summer, according to reports in The Metro. What’s more – it is even believed that Los Blancos are open to the prospect of selling the Frenchman for that bargain fee in this transfer window.
It is understood that Real’s new manager Rafael Benitez is uninterested in keeping hold of the player this summer, with him likely to resort to playing Cristiano Ronaldo and/or Gareth Bale as part of his formation, in which he will play one or two forwards. And the Frenchman himself is believed to be keen on a switch in order to avoid spending time on the sidelines next season.
Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen is back on Napoli’s radar, suggests the Corriere dello Sport. The Italian newspaper claims that the Arsenal club captain is a wanted man in Naples, after Rafa Benitez finally made up his mind on which centre back he should buy to partner former Real Madrid man Raul Albiol in the central defence. The Napoli manager has rotated between Miguel Britos and Federico Fernandez this season, but wants to step his defensive options, and sees Vermaelen as the ideal addition to his squad, as they look to retain their place in Europe. Serie A side Napoli have become the third big club to be linked to Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny, for a potential move this summer, reported The Daily Express.
Manager Rafael Benitez has been instructed to strengthen the side to present a greater fight for the league title this season, whilst also ensuring a better European campaign for the club.
