Arsenal striker Chuba Akpom, who has missed the better part of the 2016-17 season due to injury, will attempt to regain form and fitness away to Championship club Brighton and Hove Albion over the second half of the season, joining the side on loan.
Brighton Manager Chris Hughton was excited to welcome Akpom to the Championship leaders, telling the club’s website: “As soon as we allowed Elvis Manu to go out on loan we knew we wanted to add to the forward area, so we are delighted to bring in someone of Chuba’s calibre. Continue reading →
21 year old Arsenal striker Chuba Akpom has seen virtually no playing time this season, failing to break into the Arsenal first team and it comes as little surprise that with the Gunners’ forward line largely fit and firing, Manager Arsene Wenger could be looking to send the youngster out on loan for the second half of the season.
The Birmingham Mail reports this morning that Aston Villa are among a host of Championship clubs hoping to take the young striker on loan, with Manager Steve Bruce unsurprisingly the favourite to sign him considering Akpom spent last season on loan with him at Hull City. Continue reading →
Arsenal wrapped up their pre-season with what should have been a morale boosting 3-2 win against Manchester City in Gothenburg, however, the match ended in tears for Brazilian defender Gabriel Paulista, who had to be stretchered off with what looked like an ankle ligament injury that no doubt will rule him out of action for a few months, thereby further limiting Arsenal’s options at centre back heading into the new season.
The match itself was an exciting affair, with Arsenal dominating the first half, but unlucky not to get on the scoresheet. Gabriel and Aaron Ramsey both should have done better with headed chances that came their way, while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain fired wide with a delicate chip. Continue reading →
After a slow first half in which Joel Campbell scored the only goal, nudging in Mohamed Elneny’s goalbound header (which didn’t really need a touch), Arsenal ran riot against Viking FK in Norway, scoring an incredible 7 goals in the second half to record an impressive 8-0 win.
The win is Arsenal’s third in pre-season, and sets the Gunners up nicely for their game against Manchester City in Gothenburg on Sunday. Continue reading →

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is understood to be looking to send young forward Chuba Akpom on loan to Championship side Hull City, to re-link with youngster Isaac Hayden and continue his development at the club, according to reports in the BBC.
Wenger had recently revealed that the player would not be parting ways with the Gunners this season, and that he would be provided with ample first team chances at the club – a key reason why he eventually decided to sign a new contract with the side. However, the boss seems to have done a U-turn on his previous decision now.
Arsenal left back Nacho Monreal is understood to have verbally agreed to put pen to paper on a new contract at the Emirates Stadium, according to reports in Mundo Deportivo. As part of the new deal, the player will be earning £75,000-a-week at the club, which translates to wages of nearly £3.9m per year.
Monreal has been linked with a move to La Liga side Athletic Bilbao for quite a while now. (read more)
