Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is believed to have still not given up on the hope of signing Gonzalo Higuain from Napoli this summer, with Spanish journalist Kike Marin revealing that the Gunners are plotting one last move for the player in this transfer window. It is understood that the Serie A giants are unwilling to negotiate for the player below his £69.1m buyout clause; however, with the club having failed to qualify for the Champions League this season, the Argentine superstar may try to force a move away from the club. And reports in Gazzetta dello Sport have revealed that the Frenchman is now on the verge of signing the player in the coming days, thus trumping his other suitors Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur to his signature.

Meanwhile, Napoli attacker Manolo Gabbiadini has said that his teammate Gonzalo Higuain, who is believed to be a target for the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea this summer, will not be sold by his club at any cost. Gabbiadini was quoted telling Italian radio station Radio Kiss Kiss: “We shouldn’t forget the number of decisive goals he scored. Pipita is untouchable.”
