The Daily Mail has reported that Napoli are looking to offload out-of-favor striker Eduardo Vargas and are hopeful of sending him on load to Arsenal who had earlier expressed interest in the forward.
Chile international Vargas joined Napoli at the start of this season having snubbed Chelsea and has scored 3 goals in 15 appearances for the club in all competitions. He has failed to get a consistent run of games due to the prolific form of goal machine Edinson Cavani and is looking at a way out of the club with a move to Brazil club Sao Paolo also a possibility.
Arsenal have cash to spend in the January transfer window and are also looking to generate funds by selling fringe players. Sebastien Squillaci and Andre Santos have been earmarked to follow Johan Djourou out of the club who joined Hannover on loan. Striker Marouane Chamakh has joined West Ham on loan till the end of the season leaving Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott as the only options in attack. Manager Arsene Wenger wants reinforcements up front this month and would be happy to add Vargas to the side with his ability to play in attack or on the wings.
