Arsenal’s hard working superstar Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain put in another man of the match performance as the youngster continued to show his value to the Gunners, playing as right wing back today in the FA Cup semi-final win against Manchester City.
Oxlade-Chamberlain put in a fantastic defensive shift in the first half, keeping Leroy Sane in check, and turned on the after burners in the second half as he helped Arsenal get higher up the pitch.
It was Oxlade-Chamberlain’s cross that fellow wing-back Nacho Monreal turned in at the far post to draw Arsenal level before Alexis Sanchez won the game for the Gunners in extra time.
Speaking after the game, The Ox told BT Sport, “I’m tired but delighted. We set out to reach the final, our league form has not been good enough and this is something we could hold on to. We have given ourselves every opportunity to go and win it. It’s a new and interesting position for me at wing-back, I have to focus on the defensive side of things and we have adapted really well.”
Arsenal will face Chelsea in the final of the FA Cup on the last weekend of May, a match the Blues are likely to enter as overwhelming favourites, and in all likelihood Premier League champions.
