Wenger provides update on Arsenal’s two injured midfielders

Already stretched thin by the injury to Santi Cazorla, the suspension to Granit Xhaka and the call-up to international duty for Mohamed Elneny, Arsenal’s beleaguered midfield suffered a twin blow today with Aaron Ramsey and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain both picking up injuries in the Gunners’ 2-1 defeat at the hands of Watford at the Emirates today.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger confirmed after the game, that Aaron Ramsey’s exit in the opening quarter of the game was due to a calf injury, one which will rule him out of action for the foreseeable future.

The news is slightly better for his replacement Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who was forced to play through his injury, having suffered a kick to the knee in the second half.

Wenger said that he hopes to have The Ox fighting fit in time for Arsenal’s trip to Stamford Bridge this weekend, a must win game for the Gunners as far as their title aspirations are concerned.
