Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger was once again forced to defend another show of disappointment from Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez, who was far from pleased at being replaced even with the Gunners leading 4-0 in the game against Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium.
Sanchez threw what is quickly becoming his weekly tantrum after he was subbed with about 10 minutes left in the game with the result in little doubt.
Wenger explained his decision to withdraw Sanchez, saying, “Alexis Sanchez is not injured, he just wanted to stay on the pitch. I did not want to take a gamble on him.”
While Sanchez’s desire to play the full 90 minutes and contribute the maximum is worthy of appreciation, his continuous behavioural issues are becoming a touch annoying, especially considering it was important to give Danny Welbeck and Lucas Perez some playing time as well.
The Chilean needs to really that he is part of a team and everyone needs to contribute, not just him.
