Arsenal have received a triple injury boost ahead of the visit of Burnley to the Emirates this weekend with the Gunners welcoming Hector Bellerin, Francis Coquelin and Kieran Gibbs to full training this week and all three players in contention to make the squad for this weekend’s clash.
Bellerin has missed a couple of weeks after struggling horribly in the game away to Bournemouth where he was carrying an injury and was twice robbed off the ball as Arsenal conceded cheap goals. It will be interesting to see whether he will go straight back into Arsenal’s starting eleven or be kept in reserve by Manager Arsene Wenger.Meanwhile, the game against Burnley would have been an ideal opportunity for Wenger to also give Kieran Gibbs some playing time and give veteran Nacho Monreal a break, but considering he too has been missing for a few weeks now, it is unlikely that the England international will start this weekend.
Finally, Coquelin’s return ahead of schedule is welcome news for Arsenal, who had been left with just the two central midfield options in Granit Xhaka and Aaron Ramsey for the last few games.
Two players who are not yet ready to return to the first team are Theo Walcott and Per Mertesacker, the latter still training on his own and believed to be two weeks away from a return to action.
Wenger though did confirm that in form striker Olivier Giroud is also back in training after the ankle knock he picked up during last week’s win over Swansea City.
