Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud scored a goal and grabbed two assists as he led the Gunners’ fightback against Bournemouth from 3-0 down to steal a point at the Vitality Stadium after a truly awful first hour from the Gunners saw them concede some terrible goals.
Giroud was satisfied with his performance and the comeback, but disappointed with the 2 points still dropped as the Gunners lost vital ground on Chelsea in the Premier League title race, whilst also failing to close the gap sufficiently on Liverpool and Manchester City ahead of them.
Speaking to the press after the game, Giroud said, “I’m pleased to help the team by scoring the equaliser but I’m still disappointed. It’s nice to come back but the way we played at the end, that made me think we should have done better. At least we came back, showed great mental strength and I will take it.”
Up next for Arsenal is a trip to Deepdale to take on Preston North End, a game Giroud might well miss before the Gunners extended road trip takes them to Wales where a newly buoyed Swansea City await.
