Jenkinson’s move to Palace held up by wage demands

Sky Sports is reporting this afternoon that Arsenal defender Carl Jenkinson’s transfer to Crystal Palace has been held up so far due to the England international’s wage demands.

Jenkinson it seems had agreed a deal to join Palace on a permanent basis, having accepted a £35,000 a week with the London club, only to learn that Palace were paying their other winter signing Leicester City’s Jeffrey Schlupp £56,000 a week.

This apparently left Jenkinson’s agent with egg on his face and a lot of explaining to do to his client, and that is why the right back’s move to Selhurst Park has failed to go through.

The ball now appears to be in Palace’s court to improve their offer to Jenkinson or risk missing out on signing the youngster altogether.
