Arsenal defender Carl Jenkinson’s proposed move to Crystal Palace isn’t quite a done deal yet.
Discussing the transfer, Palace Manager Sam Allardyce revealed, “While we appear to have an agreement with Arsenal, that agreement with the player hasn’t reached a conclusion, so that’s hanging in the balance, as we say.”
Allarydce added that the Jenkinson’s agent continues to be locked in dialogue with Cystal Palace’s Chairman Steve Parish and he is hopeful that an agreement can be reached soon.
Allardyce was able to get the most out of having Jenkinson on loan at his previous club West Ham United and obviously sees value in re-signing the player.
Conflicting reports in the press suggest that the transfer is a permanent move or a loan spell, and we will probably need to wait and watch for the deal to conclude to learn the reality.
The 24 year old Arsenal right back has struggled for form since his return to action since recovering from the knee injury he suffered while on loan at West Ham, and failed to make the most of the opportunity given to him by Arsene Wenger.
With Ainsley Maitland-Niles also now above him in the Arsenal pecking order it probably makes sense for Jenkinson to reboot his career elsewhere.
