Chelsea may be enjoying a scintillating run of success in the Premier League at present; however, former Blues ace and current Arsenal star Petr Cech feels the Gunners still have a good chance of beating their city rivals to the coveted trophy.
The 34 year old was quoted in The Daily Mirror, saying: “We need to win these games as you can’t let them have the advantage of making the gap bigger. If everyone gets points Chelsea feels the pressure from behind. This is probably the better scenario for those of us who are chasing.”
The veteran also pointed out that he is happy with the way his team have been performing at present, quoting the example of Arsenal’s last match against Swansea City, which they won by a comfortable margin of 4-0, away from home. He said that it is good that the Gunners did not become complacent when the scoreline was, say 2-0, and continued to extend their lead, instead of sitting back and defending it.
Arsenal are indeed looking strong this season, with the side’s current run of form taking them to 4th in the table, with 44 points from 21 matches. They trail leaders Chelsea by 8 points, and rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool by a solitary point. However, with all the aforementioned teams looking strong this season, not to mention the duo of Manchester United and Man City too, the Gunners have a mountain to climb as far as their hopes of winning the title is concerned.
