Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger revealed in his press conference today that another Gunner has picked up an injury and will as a result miss the FA Cup tie with Preston North End this weekend.
The unfortunate player in question is summer signing Lucas Perez, who would have surely started that game had been fit, and it would have done the Spaniard some good to get a run of games under his belt as he looks to find his best form.
Perez impressed in the win against Crystal Palace and during his short cameo against Bournemouth, which included a goal. In addition to his super finish, the forward added an extra dimension to Arsenal’s attack and looks to be a good addition to the Gunners’ squad.
Speaking about the player’s injury, Arsene Wenger said, “We might have a problem with Lucas Perez because he has injured his ankle and we will have to see how he responds to that.”
Wenger also revealed in his press conference that midfielder Francis Coquelin will be out for a month with a hamstring injury, that he will rest Alexis Sanchez, Laurent Koscielny and Mesut Ozil this weekend, and the closest player to returning to first team action is Theo Walcott.
