Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger hit out at the match officials for the second time in a week after the Gunners went down 2-1 to Manchester City with dodgy officiating at fault for both goals.
After Arsenal had dominated the first half and scored the only goal in it to take a 1-0 lead into half-time, the Gunners were punished in the second period with both of Manchester City’s goals scored when an offside could be given against the home side.
The decisions didn’t go Arsenal’s way, leaving Manager Arsene Wenger extremely frustrated as the Gunners lost crucial momentum not just in the title race, but have now slipped down from 2nd to 4th in a matter of days.
An annoyed Wenger lashed out after the game, saying, “I’m disappointed and frustrated. We had a very good first half. We got caught cold. Today we conceded two offside goals. It’s difficult to accept. I believe there’s a lot going on [regarding ‘bad’ refereeing decisions]. It’s hard going into a game like that and you get decisions go against you. They are professional and we are professional and have to stand up for our mistakes.”
Wenger added, “The first goal gave them a lot of hope. After that we suffered for 20 to 25 minutes. On Tuesday we suffered on set-pieces. Today we were unfortunate. What can you do about the offside goals?”
