Cazorla ruled out of action till March

Arsenal’s Spanish midfield maestro Santi Cazorla has been ruled out of action for the next three months at the very least with the club having decided that the 31 year old has not progressed sufficiently from the knock he picked up on his Achilles while playing against Ludogorets in the Champions League and will as a result require surgery.

The veteran attacker, in the final year of his contract at the Emirates, is unlikely to feature before March 2017, and even then it remains to be seen when he actually regains full fitness and what kind of role he will play for the Gunners in the title run-in.

Cazorla has already been out of action for 1.5 months, and after missing 7 months of last year with a knee injury, it remains to be seen what kind of future the player has at Arsenal, with Wenger unlikely to offer him anything more than a 1 year contract on the conclusion of his existing term, despite rating him very highly.

Arsenal have struggled to be the same creative force without Cazorla in recent weeks, and it will be interesting to see how Manager Arsene Wenger rejigs his midfield, and if he possibly considers terminating Jack Wilshere’s loan spell at Bournemouth to add some creative impetus to his side.
