Rumours are beginning to gather momentum that Arsenal are lining up a big money summer move for German superstar Marco Reus as a potential replacement for Alexis Sanchez should the Chilean superstar not budge from his £400,000-per-week salary demands.
Sanchez has an offer from a Chinese Super League club to move East at that pay grade, and his agent continues to hold Arsenal to ransom, despite the Gunners reportedly being ready to break their wage structure to offer Sanchez a salary in excess of £200,000-per-week to remain at the Emirates.
With Wenger keen to secure the club’s future in the event that he is forced to sell Sanchez this summer, the Arsenal supremo has identified Borussia Dortmund star Marco Reus as the main to replace Sanchez according to a report in the Daily Mail.
Reus has endured a tough last 6 months after suffering a torn adductor muscle in German Cup final in May. The 27 year old German returned to action as recently as November 22nd, but showed he had lost none of his goal scoring touch by finding the back of the net twice in a Champions League game.
Reus interestingly has a very good goal scoring record, despite spending the bulk of his career out on the wing, and would in all likelihood relish a move to Arsenal, who are also likely to give him a massive pay bump.
Reus will not come cheap though with his contract with Dortmund running till 2019.
