Wenger: “Physically we are not ready”

Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger has said injuries and the lack of physical preparation resulted in a 3-4 home loss to Liverpool in its English Premier League opener.

With defenders Per Mertesacker and Gabriel sidelined with injuries and top players Laurent Koscielny, Olivier Giroud and Mesut Ozil missing the game after the Euro journey, Wenger had to replace them with young players here on Sunday.

“Physically we are not ready. You have to sometimes accept that you cannot control absolutely everything, even if you try to be as intelligent as possible,” Wenger told reporters after the match at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal will play their next match away to defending champions Leicester on Saturday.

But Wenger could not confirm whether his crucial players like Koscielny, Ozil and Giroud would be ready for the clash.

  1. By saying that Arsenal were Physically we are not ready”. He is acknowledging that he was not doing his job and getting the 8 million pounds a year for nothing. Wenger in 20 years failed to build a balanced wining squad. After twenty years Arsenal defense are Mertesacker , Gabriel , Chambers , Jenkinson and Depuchy. Arsenal attack are led by Giroud. Could be there a failure more than that. Wenger please go quietly because you are really hopeless and good for nothing . Above all where were you playing football before? what football clubs were you managing before Arsenal ? Monoco and Japan . That is really wonderful and outstanding experience.
