Arsenal are understood to have been approached by the agents of Liverpool forward Daniel Sturridge over the prospect of the player signing for the club on a season long loan deal, according to a sensational revelation made by Goal.
However, it is also reported that the Merseyside giants are in absolutely no mood to let the striker move to the Emirates Stadium, with both the clubs being bitter rivals.
26 year old Sturridge, who is consistently considered as among the most highly rated forwards in the Premier League, has endured a tough phase at Anfield in recent times, with manager Jurgen Klopp often benching him during crucial matches.
Additionally, the player’s injuries have not helped him either, with him often not being fully match fit.
Despite that, Sturridge did go on to impress with his performances last season, scoring 13 goals and providing 2 assists in 25 appearances. And that, in turn, is understood to have convinced the Gunners’ boss Arsene Wenger of the quality of the player.
The versatile Englishman, who can play as a centre forward and a winger, certainly has the potential to be a useful signing for Arsenal. However, the greatest hurdle in the club’s attempts to land him will be convincing Liverpool to part ways with him. Additionally, even if the Gunners do manage to sign him, by hook or by crook, there is the possibility of the player turning out to be a liability for the side in the long run considering his fitness problems.
