Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has certainly become desperate to sign Borussia Dortmund ace Marco Reus. According to reports in German publication SportBild, the Frenchman is now considering smashing the Gunners’ transfer record by paying £48m to sign the player in the weeks to come.
It is reported that there has been no official bid from any side for the winger this summer; however, it is also believed that Wenger is now seriously interested in landing the player, who has been understood to be a long term target for the club.
The boss has already made it clear that the north Londoners will not hesitate to splash big bucks on players, who are deemed necessary, this summer, and Reus may certainly be one of them. However, the player is known to be injury prone, which in turn may raise questions on his ability to perform at his very best for Arsenal, should they succeed in signing him.
Meanwhile, the aforementioned reports will spell disappointment for Liverpool, who have also been known to be keeping tabs on the German star for quite a while. Additionally, Real Madrid are also believed to be following Reus, with the player himself known to be interested in a switch to the Santiago Bernabeu next.
