Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, it seems, has rekindled his interest in Borussia Dortmund ace Marco Reus. According to reports in The Daily Star, the Frenchman has moved ahead and hijacked Liverpool’s move for the player, and is now hoping to land him at the Emirates Stadium.
Reus, who is widely considered as one of the best wingers in the German top flight, has been linked with a potential move to Anfield for quite a while. However, the player is himself known to be wishful of moving to Real Madrid, which is why the Gunners may have to work hard to lure him to the Emirates Stadium.
It is believed that Wenger is viewing the player as the ideal replacement for the departed Lukas Podolski at the club. And with their ability to offer him Champions League football this season, the north London giants certainly have a better chance of signing the player, than the Reds.
The Gunners are believed to have a £200m transfer budget at their disposal this summer, as revealed by their director Lord Harris. And even though Wenger has attempted to play down the rumours, the fact remains that making a move for the £47.8m-rated German ace will not be much of a problem for the club this summer.
