European Champions Bayern Munich feel that they can get Arsenal target and Croatian striker Mario Mandzukic to stay at the club beyond the end of this season. Doubts continue to persist over the 27-year old’s future at Bayern as manager Pep Guardiola is likely to be using Borussia Dortmund ace Robert Lewandowski from next season.
Bayern President Karl Heinz Rummenigge though denies claims that Bayern will offload Mandzukic despite his good goal-scoring returns this season. Speaking about the Croat’s future, the Bayern chief said, “Mario Mandzukic is under contract with our club.I am definitely aware that many clubs have started to show an interest in Mario’s services, but I believe he will be with our club way beyond the end of this season.”
Meanwhile, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger had hinted earlier in the season that he might be able to land Mandzukic in the summer as the target man was keeping his options open in case he is to be frozen out of the first team at the Allianz Arena.
Only time will tell as to how things unfold for the former Wolfsburg man, who has been impressive in the Bundesliga this season, netting 17 times in 24 games so far.
